Who Made This? ("the App") is operated by Austin Carpenter ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name. If you sign in with Apple, we receive the information you choose to share (which may include a private relay email address).

Scan Data: When you scan a product barcode, the barcode number is sent to third-party product databases (Open Food Facts, UPC Item DB) to identify the product. Your scan history is stored locally on your device.

Purchase Information: In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment information, credit card numbers, or billing details. We receive only a confirmation that a purchase was completed.

Usage Data: We may collect anonymous usage statistics such as the number of scans performed and features used, to improve the App. This data is not linked to your identity.

2. Information We Do Not Collect

We do not collect your location data, contacts, photos, browsing history, or any data from other apps on your device. We do not use cookies or web tracking technologies within the App.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to provide and maintain the App's core functionality (product scanning and ownership lookup), to manage your account and subscription status, to respond to your support requests, and to improve the App based on anonymous usage patterns.

4. Third-Party Services

The App uses the following third-party services:

• Open Food Facts (openfoodfacts.org) — open-source product database. Your barcode scans are sent to their API. Their privacy policy is available at openfoodfacts.org.
• UPC Item DB (upcitemdb.com) — product lookup service used as a fallback when products are not found in Open Food Facts.
• Firebase Authentication (Google) — handles account creation and sign-in. Subject to Google's privacy policy.
• RevenueCat (revenuecat.com) — manages in-app purchases and subscriptions. Subject to RevenueCat's privacy policy.
• Apple — processes all payments through the App Store.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your scan history, boycott/support lists, and preferences are stored locally on your device using encrypted storage. Account authentication data is managed by Firebase with industry-standard security practices. We do not maintain a central database of your scan history or personal product preferences.

6. Data Retention and Deletion

You can delete your scan history at any time within the App. If you delete your account, all associated data will be permanently removed from our authentication system. Locally stored data is removed when you uninstall the App. To request complete data deletion, contact us at the email address below.

7. Children's Privacy

The App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, to request correction of inaccurate information, to request deletion of your account and associated data, and to opt out of any future communications. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the information below.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy within the App and updating the effective date above. Your continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
